The first 90 days work on a young horse under saddle is the most memorable and important period in their educational process. At no other time do horses have to retain so much information and advance so rapidly. It is imperative that the education that horses receive at this time is positive and correct leaving the horse with the proper foundation necessary for their particular discipline . A lifetime of colt starting knowledge was passed on from Jack Carrel to his son Charlie. Combined they have started literally thousands of colts. | Charlie and Hilary compete both in the American Quarter Horse Assoc. (AQHA) as well as the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) . Working with students and horses from the children's hunter divisions to Grand Prix. Many of the top horses on the west coast begin their show jumping careers at COLTS UNLIMITED. World Cup and Olympic riders send top prospects to be developed at COLTS UNLIMITED until they are of age to travel and compete at the upper levels of show jumping. Horses are carefully analyzed according to movement, jump and appearance and trained accordingly to the specific niche' that suits them best. |

| Trick and stunt training is also offered at COLTS UNLIMITED where several horses have been developed for star roles in cinema. Talents ranging from sitting, bowing, packing items in their teeth, to jumping and carrying lead actors are all products of the COLTS UNLIMITED training program. A familiar scene of a COLTS UNLIMITED trained horse is the stunt work in "The Thirteenth Warrior" in which Charlie doubles as Antonio Banderas proving his horsemanship skills to his comrades. |

"...Charlie's reputation for training horses is well known in the industry. What is not as well known is the work that he has done in the film industry, training horses, stunt riding, and serving as Antonio Banderas’s stunt double.
Film director John McTiernan, who lives outside of Sheridan Wyoming, and whose resume includes "The Hunt for Red October," one of the "Die Hard" movies, and "The Last Action Hero" and "Predator," both starring the Governor of California, knew of Charlie's horsemanship, since Charlie grew up in the Sheridan area as well. Charlie broke into the film business by training a Shire draft horse for the McTiernan directed movie, "Amanda." Charlie trained the horse to bow, free jump without a halter or lead rope, and pick up a bicycle in her teeth.
